Job Title: Senior Rust Developer

Location: St. Louis, MO or MC Lean Virginia (Hybrid/Onsite)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Rust Developer to design, develop, and optimize high-performance backend applications and distributed systems. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Rust programming, asynchronous systems, microservices, and cloud-native development. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance applications using Rust.
• Build scalable RESTful APIs, backend services, and microservices.
• Develop concurrent and asynchronous applications using Tokio and async/await.
• Optimize application performance, memory usage, and system reliability.
• Integrate SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design sessions.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes deployments.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance improvements.
• Follow secure coding practices and software engineering best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on Rust development experience.
• Strong understanding of Rust concepts including ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, and memory safety.
• Experience with asynchronous programming using Tokio or similar frameworks.
• Experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
• Strong knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and distributed systems.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
• Proficiency with Git and modern software development practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Axum, Actix Web, Rocket, or Warp frameworks.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging platforms.
• Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Prior experience in financial services, cybersecurity, defense, or high-performance computing is a plus.
