Job Description:
This role owns Azure infrastructure deployment and network engineering for the MSP engagement. The engineer will design, build, and operate Terraform-based Azure deployments, act as the primary network SME, and serve as the execution bridge between architecture, DevOps, and operations teams. This is a hands-on, ownership-driven role with flexibility to work during change windows.
Key Responsibilities
Azure, DevOps & Terraform
- Deploy Azure infrastructure using Terraform as the primary Infrastructure as Code tool.
- Design, build, version, and maintain Terraform templates and reusable modules for Azure resources.
- Standardize Azure deployments through Terraform module frameworks aligned to architecture standards.
- Manage Terraform state (remote state, locking, environment separation).
- Integrate Terraform with Azure DevOps pipelines for controlled CI/CD-based infrastructure deployments.
- Support architecture-led deployments and migrations once documentation and standard templates are finalized.
- Troubleshoot Terraform plan/apply failures and resolve configuration drift.
- Refactor legacy or manual Azure resources into Terraform-managed infrastructure where applicable.
Network Engineering
- Act as the primary Network Engineer for Azure and hybrid environments.
- Design, deploy, and support:
- Azure VNETs, subnets, peering, hub-and-spoke architectures
- NSGs, ASGs, UDRs, route tables
- VPN Gateway and ExpressRoute connectivity
- Azure Firewall, NVAs, and load balancers
- Hands-on experience with enterprise networking platforms:
- Cisco and Juniper (routing, switching, firewall fundamentals)
- EdgeConnect (SD-WAN) or equivalent solutions
- Wireless and Access Point integrations
- Perform advanced troubleshooting across network, connectivity, and application layers.
- Provide L2.5-level support for complex network incidents and escalations.
Operations, Change & Governance
- Own infrastructure and network changes during approved change windows.
- Participate in change planning, impact analysis, and rollback strategy definition.
- Ensure all Terraform code, network designs, and changes are documented.
- Contribute to runbooks, SOPs, and deployment standards.
Skills & Experience
Terraform & DevOps (Mandatory)
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform on Azure.
- Proven ability to:
- Build Terraform modules from scratch
- Use variables, outputs, locals, and lifecycle rules effectively
- Manage remote state and environment isolation
- Follow Git-based workflows for Terraform code
- Experience integrating Terraform with Azure DevOps (YAML pipelines).
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts for infrastructure delivery.
- Scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation.
Azure & Networking (Mandatory)
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure networking and infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalling, and load balancing.
- Architecture review, validation and setting up KPI, metrics for DevOps and Networking services
- Experience with:
- Azure Networking constructs
- Cisco and Juniper enterprise networks
- EdgeConnect or similar SD-WAN platforms
- Ability to troubleshoot complex hybrid and multi-network environments end to end.
