Job Title          : Linux & HP-UX System Administrator – L3 Support

Location          :Spring, TX 77389

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced L3 System Administrator with deep expertise in Linux (RHEL/SUSE) and HP-UX environments. This role involves advanced troubleshooting, performance tuning, patching, clustering, and automation across mission-critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, security, and compliance of Unix/Linux systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Linux Administration (RHEL/SUSE)

1. Perform OS installation, patching, upgrades, and security hardening.
2. Manage Red Hat Satellite Server for patching and lifecycle automation.
3. Configure and troubleshoot LVM, NFS, SAN storage, and cluster file systems.
4. Conduct crash diagnostics using kdump, kexec, and core dump analysis.
5. Implement clustering solutions (RedHat Cluster, SUSE HAE).
6. Optimize performance using tools like perf, strace, and OSWatcher.

HP-UX Administration

1. Manage LVM, cluster file system creation, and volume resizing.
2. Handle failover/failback operations in ServiceGuard cluster environments.
3. Perform OS patching, firmware updates, and advanced troubleshooting.
4. Use tools like SAM, Ignite-UX, GlancePlus, and MeasureWare.

Automation & Monitoring

1. Develop scripts using Ansible and Shell for automation and monitoring.
2. Configure logging and health checks using rsyslog, OSWatcher, etc.

Security & Compliance

1. Collaborate with security teams for vulnerability remediation.
2. Implement system hardening and ensure compliance with IT policies.

Incident & Problem Management

1. Provide L3 support for critical incidents and root cause analysis.
2. Document resolutions and contribute to knowledge base and SOPs.

 

Required Skills:

1. 7–10 years of experience in Linux and HP-UX system administration.
2. Strong expertise in RHEL 7/8/9, SUSE Linux, and HP-UX 11.x.
3. Proficiency in Red Hat Satellite Server, LVM, clustering, and SAN/NAS storage.
4. Advanced troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
5. Strong scripting knowledge (Shell, Ansible).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Certifications: RHCSA/RHCE, SLES, HP-UX Certified System Administrator.
2. Experience in cloud-based Linux environments (AWS, Azure).
3. Familiarity with ITIL processes and enterprise-grade monitoring tools.
