Technical Program Manager (BFSI)

Location: San Diego, CA (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to lead and drive multiple software development programs within a fast-paced engineering organization. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent program management skills, and experience managing cross-functional teams across geographically distributed environments.

The Technical Program Manager will collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Architecture, QA, and Business stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of complex software projects from planning through production release.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end execution of multiple software development programs.

  • Drive project planning, execution, tracking, and timely delivery.

  • Manage project portfolio, monitor project health, and proactively identify and mitigate risks.

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, QA, Architecture, and Business stakeholders.

  • Manage release planning, release execution, and continuous process improvements.

  • Track project milestones, deliverables, SLAs, dependencies, and overall program health.

  • Develop and communicate project plans, status reports, risks, issues, and mitigation strategies to leadership.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with client IT and business stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with offshore and onsite teams to ensure seamless execution.

  • Lead change management, resource planning, and risk management activities.

  • Support pre-sales activities, RFP responses, and solution discussions when required.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and program optimization.

  • Drive Agile best practices and SDLC governance across projects.

  • Monitor project performance and recommend improvements to maximize delivery efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of overall IT industry experience.

  • 6+ years of experience in Technical Program Management or Project Management.

  • Strong technical background with the ability to understand software architecture and participate in technical discussions with architects and engineering teams.

  • Ability to read code and understand technical implementation when required.

  • Experience managing large-scale software development programs.

  • Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Strong stakeholder management, leadership, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams, including offshore teams in India.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proactive, accountable, and capable of managing uncertainty in complex programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services & Insurance) domain.

  • Experience managing projects using Java, ReactJS, and AWS technology stack.

  • Exposure to release management and portfolio management.

  • Experience working directly with enterprise clients and executive stakeholders.
