Position : IT Project/Program Manager
Location is Washington, DC (Downtown) (Onsite)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Project/Program Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects and programs. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex IT initiatives, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and budget, while meeting business objectives. This role requires exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills to manage cross-functional teams and stakeholders effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project/Program Planning:
- Define project/program scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Develop detailed project/program plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
- Ensure alignment of projects with organizational goals and IT strategy.
- Execution and Monitoring:
- Lead and manage project teams, ensuring clear communication of roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
- Monitor project/program progress, track key milestones, and ensure adherence to schedules and budgets.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues that may impact project/program success.
- Ensure quality assurance processes are in place and followed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates on project/program status, risks, and outcomes.
- Facilitate collaboration between technical teams, business units, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and address concerns proactively.
- Resource Management:
- Allocate and manage resources effectively to ensure project/program success.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to secure necessary resources.
- Monitor resource utilization and adjust plans as needed to optimize efficiency.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive project/program documentation, including plans, reports, and lessons learned.
- Prepare and present progress reports, dashboards, and metrics to senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and standards.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices in project/program management.
- Conduct post-project reviews to evaluate outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the team.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience:
- 8+ years of experience managing IT projects and programs in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience in delivering complex IT projects on time, within scope, and budget.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc.).
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Trello, or similar).
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong analytical and financial management skills.
