Like ajax im 3.41, most of the configuration is in config.js in the js
folder. Only a minimal amount of configuration is in configure.php.
I only added a few options so configuration is mostly the same as ajax
im 3.41, no better, no worse. I'll look into adding more
configuration options.
I'll add a feature request for both developers and users to easily
customize the "[person] says", actions, out-of-character and
whispers. Temporarily, I think that the only change needed would be
at the bottom of ajax_act.php. This would change both the text in the
chat window AND in the chat log although the change to the chat log
would be harmless assuming you preserve all the <span> tags. Altering
or removing the <span> tags would make your chat logs have a different
XML format and they couldn't be styled with the standard ajaximrpg
stylesheet (or any additional stylesheets that came along).
ajaximrpg 4.00 is based on Ajax IM 3.41, not Ajax IM 4.0. So,
ajaximrpg is a modification on an older version of Ajax IM. The
radical redesign between Ajax IM 3.41 and Ajax IM 4.0 had two major
parts: the UI and the server. The Ajax IM 4.0 UI is totally
incompatible playing role-playing games; I wanted to use the whole
screen to run a game and not be trapped in a Facebook style chat. The
Ajax IM 4.0 server uses Node.js, instead of PHP, which trades away the
popularity of PHP for increased scalability. To me, the server
scalability for a game with a few people weren't especially important
and, if desired, could be added as an alternative to PHP, rather than
replacing it, in a future ajaximrpg version. So, overall, Ajax IM
3.41 suited the goals of ajaximrpg much, much better than Ajax IM 4.0
and allowed me to get a release out faster.
