Hi,

Ive been using AjaxChat for years on my website, I love it.
I recently moved to a new host. (I now have PHP 7 instead of 5 - not sure if this makes a difference).

I created a database,
changed the db details in my lib/config
ran the install script for my ajaxchat 0.8.5, the tables were created successfully

But when I try and open the chatroom via chat/index.php I get an error.

'XML Parsing Error: no root element found Location: http://www.mywebsite.com/chat/index.php Line Number 1, Column 1:'

Does anyone know what this means? Do I need to have something configured by my new hosting provider?
Thanks

My bet it's that it has to do with php short tags and XML tags conflicting.

I encountered a similar error after performing a new installation of Ajax Chat. The cause was that I had created registered users with long random passwords that included a single quote ('). After changing passwords such that they don't include any special characters, the problem is resolved.
