Reports to: Project Manager – Network Infrastructure Migration
Job Overview
We are seeking skilled engineers to lead the migration of our 5G Access Network workload from VMware to Wind River CaaS (Cloud as a Service) platform. This role involves in-depth technical expertise in 5G network architectures, virtualization technologies, and containerized solutions. The successful candidates will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless migration while maintaining service performance, reliability, and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Migration Planning:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive migration strategy for transitioning workloads from VMware to Wind River CaaS.
- Assess current VMware infrastructure and identify dependencies, constraints, and optimization opportunities.
- Implementation:
- Set up, configure, and validate Wind River CaaS environments for the 5G Access Network.
- Migrate workloads, including VNFs (Virtual Network Functions) and CNFs (Cloud-Native Network Functions).
- Ensure compatibility and performance tuning during the migration process.
- Testing and Validation:
- Conduct rigorous functional and performance testing of workloads post-migration.
- Resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with network engineers, cloud architects, and the operations team to align migration activities with business objectives.
- Collaborate with vendors (Wind River) for troubleshooting and advanced feature enablement.
- Documentation and Support:
- Create detailed technical documentation, including migration plans, configurations, and lessons learned.
- Provide post-migration support to ensure operational stability.
Required Qualifications
- Technical Expertise:
- Hands-on experience with VMware virtualization technologies, including vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi.
- Strong knowledge of Wind River Studio and Wind River CaaS Platform.
- Familiarity with 5G Access Network components and architectures (CU, DU, RU).
- Proficiency in containerization technologies, including Kubernetes and Docker.
- Skills and Tools:
- Expertise in migrating workloads from virtualized to containerized environments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
- Knowledge of networking protocols and standards used in 5G.
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., VMware VCP, Kubernetes CKA, or Wind River-specific training) are a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to dynamic project requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in telecom network transformation projects.
- Familiarity with Open RAN concepts and technologies.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
- Hands-on experience with Wind River Studio Analytics and Cloud Platform services.
