have tried clearing the cache and restarting

have tried running in a private window without extensions

have tried customising fonts in brave settings

have tried disabling hardware acceleration and disabling brave shields

have tried switching to a guest profile to eliminate user profile settings as a factor.

Can you check and see if Cleartype is enabled or disabled? If enabled, can you try disabling just to check and see if this fixes the issue? If disabled, please try enabling it and test to see if the issue persists.

(Edit:) THERE, Standard, Serif, and San-Serif Brave Browser fonts are/were set to Verdana. (Since posting, some testing of Helvetica neue, to see if matching with the font-family reported by Developer Tools, significantly changes appearance.)

I checked my fonts on my brave browser already.

standard and serif are both times new roman and sans serif is arial. fixed width is consolas. I have my font size to 20 and minimum to 14.

I tried changing those but it had no effect.

I have clear type back on now as it was before. still no change.
