My dear students

It’s a matter of great pleasure and pride that I  have been honored with prestigious award for the excellence in the PhD thesis work. The award has been presented for the outstanding research contribution made by me  during my  PhD research work at IIT Bombay. The award was conferred upon me on 8 Aug 2015 in 53rd convocation of IIT Bombay. The award was presented   by Nobel Laureate, Shri Kailash Satyarthi  in the presence of  Mr. Anand Mahindra, M.D Mahindra group and Prof Devang Khakaar, Director IIT Bombay. I received the certificate along with cash prize of Rs 20000.

At this moment, I would like to thanks all my dear students who worked with  me day and night in finding new ideas. I enjoyed their compney at the institute as well as at my home. This would not have been possible without extraordinary support of my students. During  my research my dear students were more like my friends than students. I don't have contact details  of all therefore I am sending my wishes and gratitudes through groups  which I formed during their stay in the institute.

The award is declared based on theses submitted during the last two years. The process for selecting the award is as follows:  Head of the departments nominate a few bright candidates and informs the selection committee that consists of senior professors across IIT appointed by the Post Graduate Degree Council of the IIT. The final selection is based on the recommendations of the committee and also on the reports from   two internal examiners and three external examiner (three referees) from renowned institutes of India & abroad (one referee from out side India mostly from USA) as well as on the quality of research publication made during PhD.
