Hi sir,
Yesterday I visited one of the engineering college in
Indore for recruitment. I would like to share my experience so that
students of our college can be benefitted.
Any core company is never interested in programming skills only. The other topics and subjects are important as well. The most important subjects for an interviewer are
1. Any programming language
2. Operating System
3. Computer Networks
4. Data Structures
5. OOPs concepts
But questions related to above subjects will be asked in advanced rounds. Sometimes to filter out students, in initial round, few general questions are asked. Those questions don't have any specific answer, but that's how a student is judged. A few example questions (which we asked in that college) were
-> What happens when you boot a computer
-> what happens in background when you type a URL in web browser.
-> if there is no internet connectivity in your machine, what will you do
-> what's the specification of your machine
There were many more questions like this. These questions are asked just to check the awareness and authenticity of students.
Later, these filtered students are interviewed. In interviews the most important things are
1. All above mentioned subjects
2. Projects
3. Achievements
Interviewer will never ask a question which is "Out of Syllabus". Just simple logical problems based on loops, control statements, data structures, keywords etc.
Yes, we are definitely interested in students who are outstanding. Yesterday, one of the student from that college did his major project in big data analytics. So, our company was obviously interested in him. I interviewed him in his final round and tested his big data and analytics skills. And he was selected right away.
So, every student should try to be unique in his/her own way. Interviewer expects every student to be different from the student which he interviewed previously.
I hope these tips will help our students. All the best to all of the students.
