Dear All,

It was Wednesday, July 8, a wonderful evening. One former Respected AIT faculty, twenty-three US alumni (an alumna from Canada) and three AIT staffs from Bangkok were captured in one frame during a bi-weekly meeting.

Meeting Participants:

Ganesh Bora, Sharif Uddin, Purna Rao, Kumar Mallikarjunan, Vijendra Boken, Sirikate Owasit (AIT), V.M. Balasubramaniam, Mazhar Islam, Jay Wu, Francis Ahad, Rafiul Ahad, Sanjeev Sayasinges (AIT), Subhan Choudhury, Vijay Rajput, Ram Ramalingam, Monjur Hossain, Abdul Hai, Omar Haider, Dhana Pawar, Prof. Gajendra Singh, Kyawt Yin Min (AITAA), Imdadul Islam, Sushil Acharya, Avijit Kalita, Nasima Akther, Samdina Rasha, Chanda Giri and Tejaswi Giri.

The meeting lasted a little over an hour. Participants paid tribute to Prof. Alastair M. North who recently passed away in Thailand. Prof. Singh recalled his memories and described him as a good leader for AIT. Prof. North was tough but at the same time he was very successful in working together with a cross functional team. Dr. Jay, Dr. Sushil and Sanjeev shared their experiences interacting with Prof. North. It is obvious that he would live in our hearts for a long time. May God rest him in peace.

It was early morning (7 am) in Bangkok but we were happy to see our friends from AIT, Kyawt, Sirikate and Sanjeev. At my request, Sanjeev provided an overview of AIT’s fundraising campaign for $3 million US dollars in scholarship, smart classrooms, laboratory upgrade, students dorms, library and other areas. Attached is the copy of the presentation. Donation to AIT is tax deductible as AIT is partnered with a 501 c(3) organization to collect fund. The donation page: https://give2asia.secure.force.com/pmtx/dn8n__SiteDonation?id=a1L16000004gbb2

We will meet next week to discuss AIT's fundraising campaign in detail and identify the areas for the US Chapter to be engaged effectively in raising funds. As we all are working home safely, please consider donating to AIT.

Next meeting is on Thursday, July 16 at 8 pm New York Time (7 pm Chicago). Hope to see you everyone.

It was a pleasure to join the zoom meeting on 9 July morning Bangkok time and to have the wonderful opportunity of interacting with all you. It is so nice to see and witness the AIT alum family in action and the fond memories and life long friends we have made thanks to our stint at AIT!!

I am very glad to note that you plan to have another zoom meeting next week amongst US alum to discuss how you all can as a group or individually support AIT as the institute transform itself to be relevant for the next 60 years!!

Look forward to receiving news of your deliberations and should anyone of you have any questions regarding the fundraising or any other issues do please let me know.
