Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Prompt Engineering Specialist / ML Engineer II to support a Medicare STARS Data Science team in designing, optimizing, and managing AI prompts for advanced analytics and agentic workflows on the Snowflake platform. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering methodologies, Snowflake Cortex, and healthcare analytics.

This role will collaborate closely with Data Scientists, Business Stakeholders, and Analytics teams to develop AI-powered solutions that improve member engagement, intervention identification, score tracking, and operational efficiency within Medicare STARS programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize prompts for LLM-powered workflows within Snowflake Cortex and agentic AI platforms.
• Collaborate with Data Science, Analytics, and Business teams to translate Medicare STARS use cases into effective AI-driven solutions.
• Build and maintain prompt pipelines supporting:
• Proactive member insights
• Intervention recommendations
• Risk and gap identification
• Medicare STARS score tracking and reporting
• Evaluate prompt performance and continuously improve output quality, accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
• Develop reusable prompt libraries, templates, and governance standards.
• Implement advanced prompt engineering techniques including:
• Chain-of-Thought (CoT)
• Few-shot prompting
• Role-based prompting
• Retrieval-augmented workflows
• Work with structured and unstructured healthcare data using SQL and Python.
• Partner with stakeholders to validate AI-generated outputs and business outcomes.
• Document prompt engineering best practices and operational procedures.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of experience in AI/ML, Data Science, Analytics, or Prompt Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Prompt Engineering for Large Language Models.
• Strong experience with:
• GPT
• Claude
• Gemini or similar LLM platforms
• Experience with Snowflake Cortex and AI-enabled Snowflake capabilities.
• Knowledge of prompt design frameworks and optimization strategies.
• Experience implementing Chain-of-Thought (CoT) prompting techniques.
• Strong understanding of LLM behavior, evaluation, and tuning methodologies.

Proficiency in:

• Python
• SQL
• Experience building AI-driven analytics solutions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Preferred Qualifications
• Healthcare domain experience.
• Experience supporting Medicare STARS, Quality Programs, Population Health, or Care Management initiatives.
• Knowledge of healthcare analytics, member engagement, and intervention workflows.
• Familiarity with agentic AI architectures and autonomous workflow orchestration.
• Experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) frameworks.
• Exposure to MLOps and AI governance practices.
