Abstract

International Citation Databases such as Science Citation Index (Web of Science) and Scopus, play very important role in evaluating scientific contributions of institutions, individuals as well as countries. However, those databases do not cover sufficient literature from developing countries, like India. Thus, a large chunk of literature originated from India is unavailable to the users of those databases. Indian Citation Index has become operational and a user can evaluate research productivity of institutions and individuals, journals’ performance, collaboration patterns and so on. User can also count citations of papers published in Indian journals.
