Dear Silvia,

 

here below you will find the link to the scholarships, these are in collaboration with IT department, the topic is not rigid but it is within the Green Software / Data Center framework, in fact, the keywords you see in the call are “Sustainable software systems”, therefore the optimization problem will be defined jointly with the winning candidate, and it can range from threads and software optimization to reduce energy consumption, to the optimal design/integration of the data centre in existing energy infrastructures (electric but also thermal, they have plenty of waste heat that could be integrated into district heating network, eventually after boosting it to higher T) or performing demand/response with the deferrable computations, also virtually clustering data centres to gather larger electric power consumption is an option, so we have freedom as long as a strong candidate interested on these topics will win the scholarship. 

 

Due to budget constraints the scholarship must start 15th December, and last 9 months, of course the intensity of the activity we can adjust depending on students academic schedule, it could be a nice win-win situation in case the candidate likes to perform the MSc thesis on this topic. The presence in person is not required for the whole period, anyhow I will be happy to address any questions, as you know I will be in China for a business trip starting tomorrow, but emails and MS Teams calls are an option in case potential candidates have any question
