I received your request via email and responded accordingly.

Well that was a very dissappionting response. I can understand the reason
for being a stealth porn group but other servers, including @home carry this
group. You often use responses like these for higher traffic sites. This
is my first attempt at asking for a group to be added. Your concerns on
adding this group might have been valid, except your company spews them out
often for many other requests. I'm already looking into another usenet
provider. I don't mind to pay more to get a service or request I want.

Since its propagation on usenet servers, alt.binaries.amp has ranked
consistently among the top 100 binary groups available among tens of
thousands. The statistics vary daily; it is ranked 68th today (Number
of Messages Posted) at:

http://www.newsadmin.com/top100msgs.htm

The rmgroup cancel message that Airnews reacted to was justifiably
ignored by a great number of premium servers; it is a bit of
vindictiveness on the part of alt.config who are not prone to admit
not being able to see the forest because of the trees.

Despite alt.config's myopia, the group was created quite legitimately
following presentations there. I could elect to send booster control
messages which would re-alert server admins to the presence of ab.amp
- but I am tiring of swaying the last few mickey mouse nttp servers.

The priority now is to keep the NG as flame- and spam-free as we had
intended it to be.

Let Airnews continue to take your money and deny you your preferences.
For downloading and posting, I have no problems with either
usenetserver or newscene.

That's not a valid argument, Bill, unless you're taking on the mantle of
speaking for "most of us". I'm absolutely sure that I read groups you don't
want, and vice-versa. Your statement smacks of "if it's not important to me,
it's not important".

Why, exactly, would this be a benefit?

Seriously, dealing with two individual servers is a royal pain in the
wossname, so 16 just seems like a nightmare!

>30 gig per month per server 16x30 = 480 Gb.

Yippee! A whole 100,000 groups!!!!

Do any of them actually contain anything useful?

>Willing to add ANY newsgroup ( takes 3 days max )

Cool. Have them add "comp.arch.wivvle.sneep", please. And, while they're
at it, "rec.thump.a.loony"...

[ Both of those were, I think, the subject of a valid newgroup message,
many, many years ago. Although I may have mis-spelled "sneep". ]

See above...

Oh, please try to get a clue. One of those went away when the other
arrived.

>Only 36,449 News Groups
>Technical Staff needs improvement
>Very restrictive policy regarding adding groups.

And... RETENTION!

Your bogus "comparison" has completely managed to ignore the single most
important issue concerning news servers: how long do they keep articles.

Just ask an @Home user why this might be important...
