Dear Ones,

We, at Sahaj Foundation, are super-excited to announce the next version of 'नया दौर, नयी कल्पना!' program, with an extremely relevant theme 'Understanding and Re-directing Technology' for the present times!

As it was the case with our last gathering on 'Re-imagining Economy', this 'virtual gathering for re-imagining Life and Society' shall again use various books, articles, talks etc to achieve its aim! This time, for the select theme on Technology, we shall have 3 primary books to take us on a journey for exploring answers to following three questions:

Question #1: What are the limitations of our present Technologies? In which direction are these Technologies taking us as a society?
Question #2: How do Technologies interact with the Social, Environmental and Economic spaces? What are the impacts of Technologies on these spaces and vice versa?
Question #3: How can we possibly re-direct our present Technologies, if required, so as to achieve a more equitable, harmonious and peaceful world?

The primary books that we have chosen are:
1. 'Weapons of Math Destruction' by Cathy O'Neil
2. 'Technopoly- The surrender of culture to Technology' by Neil Postman
3. 'Life 3.0- Being Human in the age of Artificial Intelligence' by Max Tegmark
In addition to these books, we shall also do partial reading of:
1. '21 lessons of 21st century' by Yuval Noah Harari
2. 'In the absence of the Sacred' by Jerry Mander
3. 'Democracy and Technology' by Richard Sclove
4. 'The Social Shaping of the Technology' by D Mackenzie
5. Essays by Charles Eisenstein
6. Research articles on MK Gandhi

Timeline: August 23- October 4, 2020
A total of 16 online sessions on Wednesdays (45-60 minutes), alternate Saturdays (90-120 minutes) and Sundays (90-120 minutes). The timings shall mostly be either 05:00-07:00 PM or 07:00-09:00 PM (to be collectively decided later).
