I am still running DJI Fly version 1.2.1 (very out of date!) on my Android phone to control my Mavic Air 2 because I have read that subsequent versions of DJI Fly encrypt the flight-log files, presumably to encourage people to upload them to DJI for analysis.  Currently I can download the "DJIFlightRecord_XXX[xxx].txt" files to my computer and plot them successfully with CsvView.  I'm privacy-conscious and unwilling to share my flight logs routinely with DJI, hence my interest in Airdata UAV.  I'm having difficulty learning about the service, however.

 Several Specific Questions:
1) Can Airdata decrypt the flight logs from the current (v. 1.4.8) and recent versions of DJI Fly?
2) Will my flight logs remain private (in particular, from DJI) if uploaded to Airdata?
3) After upload, can the decrypted data be downloaded again and plotted/analyzed locally?  Does Airdata have a program for this purpose that can be installed on a PC?
4) Is there a downloadable (i.e., PDF) User Manual for Airdata that I can study?

Thanks in advance for any answers! -- JCW

Aren't there any Mavic Air 2 pilots here?  It would be much appreciated if somebody answered at least question (1) above... -- JCW

Hi JCW,

I'd be happy to help answer your questions.

1)  Can Airdata decrypt the flight logs from the current (v. 1.4.8) and recent versions of DJI Fly?
Yes, AirData can decrypt current and recent versions of DJI Fly.

2) Will my flight logs remain private (in particular, from DJI) if uploaded to Airdata?
AirData will not share your flight logs with DJI, or anyone else, without your permission.

Manual upload: you are welcome to manually upload your flight logs to AirData, here: https://app.airdata.com/main?a=upload

Automatic upload:
  • When using Android, the AirData mobile app can automatically upload your flights to your AirData account. Your flights are sent straight to your AirData account and do not need to be synced with DJI's servers for automatic synchronization to occur. Please visit this help page for more info: https://app.airdata.com/wiki/Help/DJI+GO+3%2C+DJI+GO+4%2C+DJI+Pilot%2C+and+DJI+Fly
  • When using iOS, due to Apple's "sandbox" environment, your flights need to first be synced with DJI's servers if you would like them to automatically upload to AirData. Please see this help page for more info: https://app.airdata.com/wiki/Help/DJI+Fly
3) After upload, can the decrypted data be downloaded again and plotted/analyzed locally?  Does Airdata have a program for this purpose that can be installed on a PC?
You can download the flight log after it is uploaded to AirData, but the downloaded log will be the original (encrypted) flight record. At this time, we do not have a program that can be downloaded.

4)  Is there a downloadable (i.e., PDF) User Manual for Airdata that I can study?
We do not have a downloadable user manual — however, we encourage you to visit out help section, which we are regularly adding to: https://app.airdata.com/wiki/Help

 I hope this helps!

Best,
Trevor
