Hi there!

I've just bought a pair of host XR3 and do not know how to make it work as a wireless cable replacement.

my computer has windows xp os. There's no bluetooth devices, so i don't need to switch 'em off.
i plug xr3 but no results - windows works as if it had no new device.
the blue light is shimmering all the time, sometimes a yellow(don't know what's that) and red (charging as i guess) light appear.
I tried to make a connection adding new bluetooth device with the help of standard windows instruments, but os see nothin' - it's has no bluetooth adapter.

i tried to do the same using another OS - windows 8, but result is the same.

I have no instruction, no manual and don't know what to do.

Please, anyone who had similar troubles with it, describe instruction step by step

The aim is to connect 2 devices (computer with windows (later i'll need it for linux os) and other device that has RS232) using wireless cable replacement.
when i using standard rs232 cable it works perfectly, but i need a wireless connection

Thanks a lot

Dim,

There are 4 lights inside the Host XR3:
1: the blue light: this is how you see activity. If you plug the Host XR3 into a PC and the PC recognized it and load the drivers, as all Windows machines do, then the blue LED starts blinking, 2-3 times per second.

The blue light is in fact showing the RF receiver electronic power. Whenever the blue is on, the receiver is listening.

2: next to it is a GREEN led. This is the transmitter. You see an active connection when the blue is very rapidly blinking and you see the green light coming on, not as often, when the Host XR3 is transmitting.

3: Then there is the RED led. This is mainly showing power. When not initialized (no USB, but power) the red will be off. If the device is initialized through USB but you don't have a driver, or you modified the driver on Windows, then it will stay red, but no blue.

Back to your questions:

With "simmering blue" you hopefully mean a very fast blinking. This shows there is a connection or you are searching for devices.
With "sometimes yellow" you probably mean "green" and it means that the Host XR3 is transmitting.
You have a mouse or keyboard with Bluetooth, seems like it.

With all that you have a working Bluetooth system.
What you don't know is how to use Windows to make a SPP (serial) connection.

Please consult your Windows documentation how to use the Bluetooth in Windows for a step
by step instructions. I'm sure you also find lots of information from the online resources
from Microsoft to tell you how to use that.

It is the SAME for all Bluetooth hardware and has nothing special to do with the AIRcable Host XR3.

 Juergen, thank You for answers!

I also have Mobiledata bluetooth adapter that works well: both windows (xp and 7) find it quickly and load drivers.
When i use XR3 (no matter which - i have two) no new device adds. Where can i find xr3 drivers for all type of OS?
I see blinking blue always when xr3 starts. It doesn't depend on USB or RS232. Each time i power it on - it's blinking blue and sometimes yellow (i wish i weren't a daltonian as all my colleagues. 5 persons see it yellow). When i plug xr3 to one computer or another - it works the same - blinking blue, sometimes yellow.

Using  Mobiledata bluetooth adapter i can make a connection to unplugged xr3 (even a telephone sees both xr3 well), but i cannot transfer any data to them.
all i want is to use them like a simple cable. I have a device with rs232, a computer with usb-rs232 adapter (with drivers) and a cable - evrth works perfectly. When i put out cable and use xr3 - no data transfer happens.

I have no other bluetooth devices (no mouse, keyboard, phones, etc)
I checked windows spp connection - windows doesn't see xr3. No device - No connection possible.
How it can be if i used three different computers with windows xp (2 of them) and windows 7?

I've read that when it worked in pair as a cable replacement, no other devices could be plugged to them. But it doesn't work in pair as it should.

oh, you are trying to use a licensed Bluetooth stack from a 3rd party that is locked on that particular
hardware to use with the Host XR3.

Unfortunately the company you got the other BT adapter does not allow that.

Please use the standard Microsoft drivers (called Generic Bluetooth Adapter/Radio)
or purchase your own drivers from BlueSoleil.com
