Hi Nathan,

Thank you very much for these comments. The issue of names for the grades is very important and will be closely considered.

The Specialist grade is confusing but I think valuable - it a full membership grade but restricted to a specialist area. It reflects the high qualifications and experience of those we are targeting but is a grade restricted to that speciality. As set out in our paper specific disciplines could include epidemiology, noise, vibration or toxicology. It is considered that the AIOH would have much to gain by welcoming such members as they would also gain in joining the wider sphere of occupational hygiene. The BOHS also have such a grade.
