Hello,

Is it possible to obtain the full solver output, which is equivalent to the .log file in GAMS? The "Progress Window" summarizes the output, but I would like to have access to the complete, uncensored solver output.

Thank you.

Hi Bruno,

yes you can instruct the solver to store this file. You can do so by setting the project option "Solver Listing Messages" (under Solvers general options) to the value "All".

This will create a status file in the log directory for the solver you are using (e.g. cplex 12.5.sta).

Note that most solvers also have some possibilities to modify what exactly is logged. For example, when solving MIP problems with CPLEX, you can set the CPLEX option "mip display" to "Nth node + LP display for root node" and the "mip interval" to 1 to get a full log of the MIP solving process as done by cplex.

Please see the help of the different options for more information.

Thank you, Guido!

I have an unrelated question, but I can only ask it now since I have access to a solver's output. I'm using BARON to solve an MINLP. When I look at the summary file (baron_sum.lst) it says it took 13.26 seconds to solve it. But the "solving time" in AIMMS was 185.86 seconds! Why are they so different? Actually, this happens every time. The time taken to solve according to the solver is always less than the solving time reported by AIMMS in the Progress Window.

Hi Bruno,

I did some runs with BARON 11 using our test models and for each case the solving time in the progress window matched the "Total time elapsed" in the summary file. Can you send us an example (to our support e-mail) that shows the behavior you observed?

Best regards,

Hi, Marcel,

I just e-mailed an example to the technical support. Just run the project and hopefully you'll see what I described. It's an NLP problem. If I choose, say, CONOPT, it takes a second. But when I choose BARON, the solution time doesn't match the solver's information in the summary file.

Thanks.

Bruno
