Hi everyone,

I just wondered whether there is any kind of evolutionary solver, i.e.
a solver using a genetic algorithm, available in AIMMS. I'm using a
free Academic License of AIMMS. Does anyone know whether such a solver
exists for use in AIMMS and if so where I could get it?

Thanks for your comments, best
Matthias

Hi Matthias,

No, there is no such solver available in AIMMS currently (and we do
not have plans to add one in the near future).

Hi Marcel,

thanks for the information.
That's a pitty because I would like to combine a GA based solver with
CPLEX, i.e. I would like to use a GA based solver for the selection of
a subset of my decision variables and use CPLEX to solve the remaining
subproblem for every iteration of the GA based solver.
Do you have any idea how I could do so? The only idea that I have is
linking AIMMS to Excel, using Excel's Evolutionary Solver for the
first part of the problem and using CPLEX through AIMMS to solve the
remaining subproblem for each iteration. But Excel's Evolutionary
Solver is both slow and limited in the number of possible decision
variables and constraints. Do you (or anybody else) have a better
idea?

Thanks and best regards
Matthias
