Hear the evidence why running is a great way to improve memory and reduce depression. :-)

Neuroscientist Sandrine Thuret on how to you can grow new brain cells.

https://www.ted.com/talks/sandrine_thuret_you_can_grow_new_brain_cells_here_s_how#t-647482

Conventional science believes that you cannot generate new neurons in an ageing brain. If we could only grow new neurons, we can improve our fading memory and reduce depression.

As the final slide mentions explicitly, taking the following food items will definitely help:
Omega 3 fatty acids
Vitamins A, B and E
Resveratrol
Flavonoids
Curcumin
Gingko biloba

Omega-3 does definitely help with depression. And high fat diet exacerbates depression.

Please forward responsibly.
You can grow new brain cells. Here's how
Can we, as adults, grow new neurons? Neuroscientist Sandrine Thuret says that we can, and she offers research and practical advice on how we can help our brains better perform neurogenesis—improving mood, increasing memory formation and preventing the decline associated with aging along the way.

Fascinating stuff- indications are that any activity that increases blood flow to the brain can grow new brain cells. So guys do your downward dogs and inversions!

I agree..there are several researches on nueral plasticity and most of them endorse the fact that the brain can keep growing and adapting as we age.

Dementia is now classified as Type 3 diabetes.
