Dear colleagues,

Greetings !

I understand that the FAAIIMS elections are held on stall for some reasons. As a voter to this body and a contestant for member of executive committee , i have the following observations to state-

a. The reason cited is being preoccupied with COVID affairs and logistics of conducting it-

It is true that COVID is engaging our attention in various forms but it does leave us with enough time to carry on several activities - academic and non academic, though alternate platforms - online or otherwise.
Similarly , the elections can be organised and executed , either -
i. through an online secret ballot.
ii. If this is not feasible / possible, thenConventional voting  spread over one  or a few days  with no crowding , adequate social distancing etc.

The august body of election commissioners / observers may please note the point and do the needful.

b. As far as the faculty voter is concerned, once the term of a constituted FAAIIMS ends , the next elections must be held as soon as possible and a transition to the new committee completed. To delay  , postpone or  procrastinate the process  raises several questions about the sanctity of the process . The faculty members are acutely aware of this aspect and the process must not be vitiated further but taken to its logical conclusion .

Let the body not get mired in controversies .
