Grow is the nationwide youth development program.  It represents a long term non-formal educational engagement designed to improve the quality of education in Romania. The Grow program is organized by School of Values in partnership with AIESEC.

Take part in this project and you will have the chance to develop your training and presentation skills while delivering non-formal education sessions to high-school students (age 17-19). Job Description1

Before starting your traineeship: a) Have access to internet to be able to send any required documents for 5TC (a GROW conference where your participation fee is covered and where you MUST be present) – Dates of the conference: 18st June – 22nd June2012 b) Participate at 5TC - a preparation conference where you will: 1. you will understand more about the Romanian educational system, about the GROW project (please read www.growedu.ro to get an overview) and where you will meet with all the other interns participating in the project 2. gain presentation skills, training skills, team work skills and facilitation skills 3. receive the manual with the sessions you will deliver to the GROW students.

Effectively deliver the trainings from the manual presented to you during 5TC. The trainings you will deliver were specifically designed to suit the high school students knowledge level.

Organize “outside class” events with the students and the support of the local AIESEC committee.

Involvement in Local AIESEC activities (meetings, conferences, informal meetings, etc.) Depending on your development wishes and skills you might be invited to deliver trainings in local conferences.

After training delivery, before finishing your traineeship:1.Fill-out all required evaluation forms related to your responsibilities, to AIESEC internship or to GROW;

Measurable results expected from the intern

1. Delivery of ALL requested sessions and activities: a.) (10 sessions,1 official opening, 1 official closing b.) a minimum of 3 outside class activities, out of which 1 required (explained in 5TC) and 2 are for you to choose the topics from a provided list 2. Filling-out all forms requested for a professional evaluation of your work and of how the project went together with encouraging your students to fill-out the session evaluation forms for each session (required for the continuous improvement of GROW) – no more than 5 forms in total – this is included in your tasks and working time 3. A good cooperation and communication*: a) with your co-trainer (the other trainer with whom you will deliver sessions together) – measurable: give him/her feedback after each session delivered together b) with your coach (Armina Sirbu from The School of Values) – available for any questions related to trainings c) with your OCP (the GROW local project manager) and trainee buddy (the AIESEC member who will help you integrate at the beginning of the traineeship) *all these require that you are opened to cultural differences and are a communicative person.

Preparation required from the intern before arrival

1. Presentation about own country 2. Presentation and materials about own educational system (with focus on high school level) 3. Understanding about the Romanian culture (min level) 4. Understanding about the Romanian educational system – with focus on high school level (min level). 5. Before applying for this internship, inform yourself about the visa process if you need a visa for Romania to make sure that you can arrive in time

Learning points that the intern might obtain during the internship

1. “Train the Trainers” professional preparation conference 2. Interaction with Romanian teenagers during courses and outside class activities (16-18 years old) 3. Contact with GROW partners / companies involved in outside class activities or in AIESEC activities 4. Skills development: communication, presentation, training, facilitation, team work, co-training, English fluency 5. AIESEC involvement: potential OC helper position in conferences, or delivery of 1-2 trainings, chairing a conference etc. (this depends on how extensive is your previous AIESEC experience).

Additional information a potential candidate may require for the Internship

For the events planned within the project and for ensuring a better understanding of cultural differences it is highly recommended for the intern to come prepared with objects representative to his/her culture.
