March was a very special month for AIESEC in the Dominican Republic and all IGN, because we had our annual regional conference in Puerto Rico. And after many years, AIESEC in the Dominican Republic was present at this conference with a delegation: 10 members from UNAPEC, PUCMM Santo Domingo and PUCMM Santiago, enjoyed together with 250 other delegates from more than 25 countries this wonderful conference.

During the days spent there, we had the opportunity to learn more about our organization and especially about AIESEC 2015 vision, which is the path that our organization will follow in the next five years. We had fun, we learnt and we had the opportunity of creating a solid network in our region that will allow us to increase our results and exposure in the region.

Finally, I have to say I appreciate the commitment that the Dominican delegation had in this conference, I hope this is only the beginning of more international experiences for our members.

DREAM BIG AND GO BEYOND EXPECTATIONS WITH
AIESEC in Dominican Republic!

Success stories

1. Good case practices

Expo Talento AIESEC PUCMM Santiago

In March, PUCMM Santiago organized an external event for students of their university. This successful event managed to gather 7 companies, which participated in the Global Career Day on 11th of Match, and more than 500 students, which had the unique opportunity to find their personal path for personal and professional development, while discovering more about AIESEC as well. We would like to acknowledge AIESEC PUCMM Santiago for the good performance they had organizing this event. Congratulations and keep up with the good work!

2. Recognition

This month we had a lot of members involved in all our activities, members who managed to make an impact in the development of their LCs this month, members whose contribution was really meaningful!

First of all, we would like to thank to Tomas Diaz for being the most active Dominican delegate in ILC 2011, in Puerto Rico. Apparently he managed to create connections with other delegates, promote the image of our country in a proper manner and he proved to be proactive in the sessions of the conference.

Second of all, we would like to acknowledge also Glory Lazala for the good work done in the LC, while half of their members were delegates in ILC 2011, in Puerto Rico. She was a true support and a true leader during the recruitment preparations and during the event Association Fare, which took place in UNAPEC.

Third of all, we would like to thank Clement Duclona for bringing the knowledge gathered in ILC 2011, in Puerto Rico, back to his LC PUCMM Santiago. Also, even though he arrived from an international conference in the recruitment period in his LC, he is one of the most active members involved in EP recruitment in their LC.

Last, but not least, we would like to congratulate the EB team of PUCMM Santo Domingo for organizing their first successful event: Global Village. Due to this event, AIESEC become more known by their students, but also more than 30 students applied to be part of AIESEC PUCMM RSTA.

Congratulations to all of you! We are very proud of all of you and we are starting to feel that we truly have

The right people working in ONE united AIESEC Dominican Republic!

Exchange growth

Exchange Rocks more than ever!!!
After 9 months on the term, AIESEC in Dominican Republic can say that we are getting very good with short term strategies in the exchange departments.

We are very proud to tell you that in incoming exchange experiences, we have managed so far to grow 120% in Raising TNs, 125% in matching and 200% in realizations. Just by seeing these numbers and analyzing these percentages, you can recognize that AIESEC Dominican Republic is growing.

On the other side, in the experiences provided in outgoing exchange, we managed to grow a little bit more: 250% in Raising TNs, 250% in matching and 200% in realizations. Apparently OGX department wants to set a high and important point in history of our organization, which is going to be even more challenging for the future generations to defeat.

Functional areas

1. Exchange and External Relations department

Sales!!! Sales!!! Sales!!!

This month, we had a lot of meetings with companies and as we promised last month, we made the collaboration more official: 7 companies which became partners for the event organized by PUCMM Santiago and 2 more (Productos del Chef and Induveca) became partners of Global Village event organized by PUCMM Santo Domingo. Congratulations to all the members that contributed to this success of the external relations department.

Incoming Exchange

YEAHH!!! We have another TN Realized which is with Gosha (Malgorzata Kwiatkowska) from AIESEC Poland. She will be working in Santiago in the Language Exchange International; some of you got to know her in the last week of March while she spent 4 days in Santo Domingo; if you were not one of the lucky ones, you can add her as you friend on your social network.
Also we are in the process of matching about TN from the Language English Institute with AIESEC in Germany and we might have a new trainee in the country by the end of April.

Outgoing Exchange

As you already know, the recruitment of Exchange Participants Spring 2011 has started!!!

Being part of AIESEC is life changing; now you are being given the opportunity to offer the same experience to more students from Dominican Republic, for them to enjoy the same incredible emotions as more than 10,000 people have experienced last year around the world with AIESEC’s Exchange Program!

The LCs of AIESEC Dominican Republic are in a direct race and they are ready to go beyond expectations! As we already mentioned in this newsletter, we already grew very much in this department, but we would like to prove to everybody that we can do even more than this!

In order to pursue this dream and transform it into a reality, UNAPEC will recruit 21 short term members (EPs) from at least 80 applications, PUCMM Santo Domingo will recruit 5 short term members (EPs) from at least 20 applications and PUCMM Santiago will recruit 10 short term members (EPs) from at least 40 applications. That means a total of 36 EPs raised from at least 140 applications. That will mean the Spring Recruitment will bring an increase of more than 1000 % increase in outgoing exchange experiences offered to our members.

You can follow on Facebook the events created by each LC and the evolution of their Spring Recruitment:

2. Talent Management and LC Development department

The Big Brother Program was launched!
This week the new members of AIESEC Dominican Republic, recruited in January 2011, will have their first meeting with their big brother!!! Woooohooo!

The mentorship program will be launched soon! Stay tuned!
Members who expressed their desire to have the person who will be able to help with wise advice and to share their experience will be soon matched with the most suitable candidates! We would like to thank to all Alumni that decided to be part of this initiative and we hope in the future to have even more Alumni interested in this type of programs.

AIESEC PUCMM Santo Domingo is recruiting long-term members!
After recruiting in January 2011 the EB team of PUCMM Santo Domingo and preparing them for their term of one year, time has come to recruit long-term members which are going to help them achieve their vision, dreams and goals. The applications will be opened until 3rd of April 2011 and their goals for this specific recruitment are to select 15 long-term members from at least 120 applications.

LC Development

NatCo

The great person, the great CEEDer Patsy Gutierrez went back to Peru :(
Thank you, Patsy for all the work and efforts, AIESEC Dominican Republic will remember you!

Regarding the LC’s independence, one of the steps was the creation of local compendiums: so far AIESEC Santo Domingo approved theirs, PUCMM Santiago will approve it in the following 2 weeks and PUCMM Santo Domingo will start working on theirs. Another important step is the creation of Year Plans for each LC in order for the new selected EB team to be able to work organized and in order to create synergy between the 3 existing Local Chapters of AIESEC Dominican Republic. Right now we are waiting for all the plans and in April 2011 we will work together with the LCPs in creating the united vision for the following term.

3. Finance department

The last month was really important because we started the process of approbation and creation of the local compendiums; this tool will allow us to have a specific way to do our operations and it will support the development of our organization also. On the other side, the national compendium is going to be approved by the National Plenary in the next month.

Finally we will start the VAT procedures (being a new criteria asked by the Global Plenary, with the aim of becoming a full member country) in order to have everything ready by IC 2011 in Kenya.

Go FINANCE!
