Write for OneWorld

How has a particular policy of the US government positively or negatively impacted people in your part of the world?

U.S. President George W. Bush and President Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania © Eric Draper / White HouseOneWorld.net has just launched the latest installment of its Citizen Journalism Awards, and we want to hear from you!

The assignment is broad this time. Pick a particular policy of the U.S. government and write a news article (not an essay) about how that policy has impacted the lives of people where you live. Health care, reproductive rights, AIDS funding, farm subsidies, food stamps, military policy, humanitarian aid... the decisions of U.S. officials and lawmakers have real impacts on people at home and abroad. Our "Campaign '08" edition of Perspectives Magazine looks at where the presidential hopefuls stand on key global issues. Now we want to hear how those issues are affecting you and your neighbors.

Click here for the article guidelines (the same ones we give our staff writers) and then head over to our page on Helium.com to submit your article today. As always, the winner gets published on OneWorld.net and Yahoo! News, and receives a $125 award.

On Gas Prices Worldwide...

Last month's contest asked reader-writers to tell us how the increasing price of oil has impacted their lives. We got fascinating responses from Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and across the United States. Check out the winning articles and excerpts from all the submissions, and add your comments:
Now Get to Work!

This month's contest will close on Aug. 19. Check out those guidelines and start writing for OneWorld.net today!

What OneWorld readers are saying:
"I look to OneWorld to provide balance to the corporate media
and offer coverage of the underdeveloped world that folks
in the U.S. generally don't see.
