Dear Friends
I am excited to announce the world premiere of our new documentary, "Islamic Art: Mirror of the Invisible World," narrated by Academy Award winning actress Susan Sarandon and produced by Unity Productions Foundation, on Thursday, Dec. 1st at 7:30 pm at the Terrace Theater of the Kennedy Center.
As you may know, the re-opening (after 8 years of major renovation) of the Met's Galleries of the Arts of Arab Lands, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia and Later South Asia has generated strong art world interest. This film distills many of the same themes to deepen Americans' understanding of the contribution these artists, architects, calligraphers and craftspeople made to global art and civilization. It explores the commonalities and cooperation their work shares with art from other regions.
We would like to invite you to see it in advance of the national PBS broadcast in 2012. You can buy tickets at the Kennedy Center box office at http://www.kennedy-center.org/events/?event=RMXCA
The film includes commentary by a distinguished group of first-rate art historians and critics from Canada, Britain, Denmark, Jordan and the U.S. The photography is simply stunning. The film was shot in nine countries and includes the Alhambra, Taj Mahal, Topkapi Palace, Dome of the Rock, the adobe mosques of the Niger River Valley in Mali, and more.
Please pass this on to others you think would be interested. Hope to see you at the Terrace Theater of the Kennedy Center on Dec. 1 at 7:30 pm! Warm regards,
Patricia Langan, Unity Productions Foundation
