Dear Gilde,

As you are probably very well aware of, tomorrow is the G20 meeting in the City. Our worldleaders will decide upon the future of this globe for the coming decennium. We MUST pray for them - for God to stir up their hearts to invest in DURABLE solutions.

World leaders are spending billions at the moment. And as a guild I think we know the old system is more than bankrupt. THIS IS THE DAY we have been waiting for, really: imagine what a change could be set into motion if finally there is this amount of willingness and money to invest in an economy that does not simply exploit our planet earth nor it's human beings out of our sight. After all, for the students/just working amongst us, we are the first generation in years that is going to live with a declining economy for years, not growth.

Last Saturday 35.000 people walked in a peaceful procession through London, demanding world leaders for more money for jobs, the environment and justice, and less for bankers who (un)consciously made/make the wrong decisions time upon time.

TODAY is the FINANCIAL FOOLS DAY. Did you know? The largest police power in years is trying to keep order as thousands of civilians and organisations, unions, ngo's, political activist from around the world and anarchists will storm the streets and stop 'life as usual'.

Surely if anarchist are this passionate and convinced of the importance of the G20 meeting tomorrow - we christians should be even more alert.

There is a small guide attached for fasting and prayer. I'm too late with sending it to you, I only printed it out yesterday. Tonight during Guilde I'll have a copy for you, but just in case you won't be able to come - at least join in with the prayer. Have a look at:
www.MICHACHALLENGE.ORG.UK and www.PUTPEOPLEFIRST.ORG.UK

I am really passionate about this thing - and I hope I can motivate you to at least pray with the rest of the Christian world globally as the sun rises tomorrow. If we all do that - there'll be prayer around the clock all day long as the sunbeams reach every part of our planet.

Bless, Tikvah

Some encouragement below

I was so much encouraged by reading exodus. And while some things really puzzle us Westerners, there is this verse in Exodus 14 that I want to encourage you with too. The Egyptian army and the king were the world leaders in the world as known to the Israelites in those days. And I think they must have felt just like we do about being saved from their wickedness. I am thinking of the greed of bank owners, the egocentric and narrow perspective of major economic bobo's. And you know what it says:

verse 25: 'He made the wheels of their chariots come off so that they (the attacking army) had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, "Let's get away from the Israelites. The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.'

God can let wheels of super fast chariots come off!

I pray you'll be inspired by God himself to know exactely what to pray for. Surely we didn't study at university for nothing - we know where (some of) the angles of the dying economy are. Let's pray the leaders to not try to get the old dying thing back into place - but are bold and wise enough to move on to a new DURABLE approach to economics.

They only have 4,5 hours tomorrow!
