About Ramdas Padhye:
Ramdas Padhye who learnt the rare and dying art of ventriloquism and
puppetry from his father brings a unique touch by combing modern
techniques and self-made designs with a traditional art. Nearly 30
years ago Bombay TV audiences laughed at the antics of ``Mr. Ardhavat
Rao'' and ``Ms. Avada Bai''. A few years later came the Bunny Rabbit from
the Lijjat Papad advertizement that is now recognized by TV audiences
all over India. Numerous such characters have endeared themselves to
audiences.
Now the US tour of Ramdas Padhye, who has performed more than 5000
shows in India and across the world, brings an entertainment
opportunity that should thrill audiences of all ages. Witness and
support a rare art-form performed by a master ventriloquist and
puppeteer.

4) Talk on decriminalizing Indian politics
Dear all:
India Together has recently produced a timely audio program given the
context of ongoing parliamentary elections in India. It is based on a
talk given last year by Prof. Chokkar that was co-hosted by AID and
Prajaanet
Listen to the talk online at India Together. It is currently in a
hi-quality MP3 format and consequently and the file size is large
(10MB). Perhaps that might currently limit it to those with high b/w
connections. Hope some of you will still find it useful.
Regards
-Aniruddha
------ Snippet from IT newsletter -------
Talk on decriminalising Indian politics : Professor Jagdeep Chokkar of
the Association for Democratic Reforms played a key role in the
citizens' initiative that led to new anti-criminalization rules for
India's elections. In this India Together radio program he talks about
how these reforms came about. The program runs for 1/2 hour.

5) Articles of Interest
a) Organic - an easier choice :
A new bio-fertilisation solution offers protection for the long-term
health of soils, as well as a cheaper alternative to traditional
chemical treatment. Just as importantly, it works much faster than
organic manure, letting farmers switch to organic cultivation more
easily. Rasika Dhavse reports.

b) Chinks in the armour
For free trade to be widely seen as beneficial, the theory must
address many lacunae, and nations advocating it must practise it
fairly. Swati Narayan surveys the landscape of thought and action
behind free trade, even as the WTO faces imminent collapse in the
aftermath of failed talks at Cancún.
