Man throws wife out for delivering female child
Delhi: The chemistry of X and Y chromosomes, it seems, proved too much for Satender Kumar Prajapati to understand.
Prajapati,
a spice dealer in Bharat Nagar in northwest Delhi, should have known it
was due to him that his wife was not able to bear a male child. But the
businessman threw his wife Vandana out instead for delivering a female
child two months ago.
The incident was reported on August 29 when
Vandana went to the police station with her daughter and filed a
complaint against her husband and in-laws.
"My husband started
cursing me when I gave birth to a baby girl. They wanted a boy instead
of a girl. They ill-treated me and my daughter when we needed utmost
care. My husband and my in-laws told me to leave the house.
There
was no sign of happiness on their faces when I gave birth to my
daughter. I felt so bad but I thought that every thing will be fine
after sometime, but I was wrong, the situation went from bad to worse.
They didn't take care of me and my daughter and finally my husband told
me to get out of the house," alleged Vandana.
She was married to Prajapati, 25, three years ago. This was their first child, but Satender's family was expecting a boy.
"We
received a complaint from the lady and we called her husband to the
police station to broker peace between the couple but Prajapati refused
to compromise. If he stays adamant we would take appropriate action
against him," said a police officer.
The family members of Satender, however, refused any such incident occurred.
"We haven't done any such thing with Vandana. She picked up a fight and left home on her own," claimed Prajapati.
Vandana is planning to move to the National Commission for Women (NCW), if her husband and in-laws do not mend their ways.
"I
will not return to their house in these circumstances. There is no
place of mercy for them. I will move the NCW, if they don't apologise,"
Vandana added.
