* Palestinian prisoner dies in Israeli jail

A 22 year old Palestinian prisoner died this morning at the Afula Medical Center in northern Israel.  Hasan Turabi, from the Nablus-area village of Sarra, had suffered from leukemia. Attorney Hiba Masalha of the Palestinian Ministry of Prisoners’ Affairs, recently warned of Turabi's critical condition after he suffered a burst blood vessel.

 

* Government distributed NIS 1.2b to settlers

The Settlement Division, the executive arm of the Israeli government in the West Bank, distributed NIS 1.2 billion in loans to settlements and settlers from 1978 to 2011, reports Calcalist, an economic news website in Hebrew, on November 5, 2013.

 

* Palestinian left: needed, overdue critique

A “new,” representative Left is necessary, free from Oslo. It must act with other resistance forces to strategize and build on international solidarity to confront the Zionist, imperialist onslaught.  If the Left fails to develop an alternative, we will be dealing with the Fatah-Hamas dichotomy for a long time. Haidar Eid explains.

 

* Hebron: Settlers take three homes

Israeli settlers from the outposts in downtown Hebron occupied on Monday, November 5, several Palestinian buildings in the Old City.

* Hebron: Settlers block road village

Palestinians from the South Hebron Hills village of Bir al Idd discovered that the sole access road to their village was blocked shut by two big stones. The stones were placed precisely in front of the nearby illegal outpost of Mitzpe Yair.

* Jerusalem: 200 families to lose their homes

As the incumbent Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat signed coalition agreements with extreme right parties after the October 22 elections, the municipality of Jerusalem distributed demolition orders to more than 200 Palestinian families in Jerusalem. 

 

* ACT! Demand that US free Rasmea Odeh

Sixty-six year old Rasmea Odeh is a Palestinian-American feminist, activist, educator and community leader. She has served as the associate director of the Arab American Action Network (AAAN) in Chicago since 2004. The undersigned, demand that U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade stop the indictment of Rasmea Yousef Odeh and drop all federal charges.
