Goldstone Retracts Conclusions of UN Report about Israeli Attacks on
Gaza Strip
Judge Richard Goldstone published an opinion piece in the
Washington Post on Friday (1 April) retracting some of the conclusions
drawn in the “Goldstone Report.”

Jerusalem Municipality to Approve New Project for Gilo Settlement
On Monday, 4 April, The Jerusalem District Planning and
Construction Committee is expected to approve 942 housing units on the
Southern Slopes of Gilo, Ynet News reports. This decision is
anticipated to occur shortly before President Shimon Peres meets with
President Barak Obama in Washington.

Palestinians Commemorate the 35th anniversary of Land Day
30 March marked the 35th anniversary of Land Day. Thousands of
Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip, Israel and the West Bank took
part in rallies, strikes and symbolic non-violent actions in protest
of Israeli policy of land expropriation.

Abu Sisi Detention Extended
An Israeli court decided to extend the detention of Dirar Abu Sisi
on Thursday, 31 March. The Gazan man was abducted in Ukraine on 19
February, and secretly transported to Israel, where has been held in
the Shikma prison in Ashkelon since.

Palestinian Refugees Act to Save Jerusalem’s Lifta Village from
Destruction
“This is not just a construction plan- they want to erase our
memory,” architect and Lifta refugee Nasser Abu-Lel told local and
international media today [29 March] in East Jerusalem regarding the
Israel Land Administration’s plan to build a luxurious residential and
commercial zone on the remains of his village in West Jerusalem.

Trial for Rachel Corrie Continues with Contradictory Israeli Military

continued in the Israeli city of Haifa this week. Israeli military
commanders provided contradictory testimonies and strong evidence of
Israeli military negligence in protecting Rachel's life.

Israel Begins Witch Hunt against Palestinian Educators, Pupils who
Honoured Land Day
Israel launched a witch hunt against Palestinian educators and
pupils who commemorated Land Day by participating in the community’s
declared strike. Education Ministry supervisors visited Palestinian
schools on Land Day and schools were ordered to send lists of teachers
absent that day.

AICVideo: Arnona Tax Pressure
In recent weeks, the Jerusalem municipality hasn't delivered
arnona (municipal) tax receipts to Palestinian residents of the city
living behind the Israeli separation wall, according to the Jerusalem
Center for Social and Economic Rights. Over 100,000 Palestinians could
be at risk of being expulsed from East Jerusalem as a result.
