AIAA SF will be present at this Sunday's Sally Ride Science Festival
at Santa Clara University. But we're currently short of women
scientists and engineers to answer questions that girls might have
about careers.

We will be setting up beginning at 9:30am. We expect to see some
students at 11am, and a lot more at 1pm. You can volunteer for as
little as two hours or be there for the whole day. If you're
interested in joining us on Sunday, contact Dr. Prasad Gogineni at
prasad....@lmco.co (or 408-756-2994).

Below is the announcement of this Sunday's event, taken from

I've uploaded a photo and PDF instruction sheet form our time at the
April 1 Sally Ride Science Festival at Santa Clara University. I had
*lots* of girls building hoop gliders -- definitely something they had
not seen before, and very different from conventional fixed wing
gliders. Go to the "Files" section of this group, and see the
following:
* hoopgliders-instructions.pdf - the actual instructions for making
them, courtesy of National Engineers Week, NSF, CBP, and PBS.
* hoopgliders-makingthem.jpg - a couple of pairs of busy hands at the
Sally Ride Festival actually making them.
We originally had one six-foot table allocated to us. But the next
one over was vacant; so we took it over. The table was jam-packed
with girls building gliders -- both this, and a styrofoam mock Space
Shuttle. Both were in heavy demand.
