Faculty Position in Aerospace Engineering
San José State University

The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at San José State
University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at
the Assistant Professor level (JOID 13553). Applicants are required to
have an academic background in Aerospace Engineering. In addition,
experience with state-of-the-art flight environments sensors for
atmospheric, planetary and space applications and/or expertise in
flight aerospace systems dynamics and design is required.

The successful candidate is expected to teach, develop laboratories
and curriculum and to perform and establish scholarly research in his/
her area of interest. Local industry connections are strong, with
Lockheed Martin, Space Systems/Loral, and NASA-Ames as resources to
the aerospace engineering program. The position requires a candidate
who is interested in and has experience with or demonstrated ability
in providing students “hands-on” engineering education. This position
requires excellent communications skills, an aptitude for teamwork,
and a Ph.D. or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering. Applicants should
have awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a
multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural
study, training, teaching and other comparable experience. Providing
quality education is a first priority for the College of Engineering
and MAE Department faculty. In addition to teaching, faculty
responsibilities include advising, community/professional service, and
scholarship. San Jose State University is located in the heart of
Silicon Valley, providing ample opportunities for interaction with
local industries. We encourage and support faculty diversity.

For full consideration please send a letter of application, curriculum
vita, statement of teaching interests/philosophy and research plans,
and three original letters of reference
