Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to invite you to participate in our expert survey on AI Applications in Libraries.
The survey is conducted by the Centre for Digital Scholarship at the Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford. The results of this research will inform the Bodleian Libraries’ decisions and will also be shared with the wider library community.
We are seeking input from library professionals across a wide range of institutions and technical backgrounds. All experiences with Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Language Models (LM) in libraries are valuable—from extensive engagement to no direct experience. We are especially interested in insights into how library professionals are approaching, experiencing, and viewing the application of AI and LMs in conducting, supplementing, or supporting institutional library work.
The survey should take approximately 10–15 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary, and responses will be anonymised and aggregated before internal analysis. Any published materials will include only anonymised findings, unless explicit consent is obtained separately.
Please access the survey here: https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/oxford/horizon-scanning-ai-in-libraries
We would also be grateful if you could share this invitation with colleagues at your institution or with other library professionals who may be interested in contributing.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the project researcher, Charlotte Oertel (charlott...@tss.ox.ac.uk), or me (megan...@bodleian.ox.ac.uk).
Thank you very much for your time and valuable input.
Best
regards,

Dear all,
The Centre for Digital Scholarship wanted to share a quick reminder of our expert survey on AI Applications in Libraries.
The survey closes on 15 October, and currently the EU and Australasia participation is exceeding the equally important voices from US and UK colleagues – therefore we would be particularly grateful for any support in circulating the call amongst your colleagues, including technical team members working on AI projects, or through any channels available, such as LinkedIn (http://tiny.cc/AIinLibraries).
Survey results will be shared back with the library community. Please note that participants have the option to respond completely anonymously. If any of the sections do not apply to you, please feel free to skip ahead to the questions at the end!
With sincere thanks and wishing you all a lovely rest of your week,
Charlotte
