Hello AI4LAM community, 

Our next community call is Tuesday, July 15 8:00 AM California | 11:00 AM Washington DC | 16:00 UK | 17:00 Oslo & Paris | 01:00 Sydney.

To ease into summer, we will spend our time together doing a virtual group exercise based on the "Archival Images of AI" playbook created by AIxDESIGN and Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision, which we heard about in the May Community Call. We want to have some fun with the workshop and we want gather your ideas for a design refresh of the AI4LAM website, logo, and event branding.

Please come to the workshop with examples of images that show typical representations of AI, especially images that are cliché, overused, or misleading. We will use these as a starting point to imagine and create images that better reflect the goals and approaches of AI4LAM. 

Here are some considerations as you peruse images:

• • What is the focus of the image?
  • Whose perspective is represented?
  • What is the most obvious message told by the image?
  • Does the image reinforce, challenge, or subvert existing narratives?
  • Are any voices/perspectives absent from this image?
