Dear AI4LAM colleagues,

You may have seen the recent call for contributions to an edited collection on “AI That Works: Real Stories, Real Libraries, Real Impact”.

The editors for the collection will be Mark Hughes (Head of Libraries, Cardiff Metropolitan University) and Anna O’Neill (University Librarian, University of Warwick) and the collection will be published by Facet Publishing, which has a green open access policy.

I’m writing to share this more widely with the AI4LAM Community, particularly to highlight a couple of areas where we are especially keen to receive case studies.

We would particularly welcome short proposals that explore:

  • Supporting researchers’ use of AI
Practical examples of how libraries are enabling, guiding, or partnering with researchers in their use of AI—whether through skills development, research support services, tools, or policy frameworks.
  • Human‑centred, responsible AI in practice
Case studies that demonstrate how institutions are approaching ethics, transparency, inclusivity, and responsible use—especially where this is embedded in day‑to‑day institution, library or research support activity.

Our aim for the volume is to surface real‑world, transferable practice—what is working (and what isn’t), and what others can learn from it. Contributions can come from academic, national, or cultural institutions, and we are keen to include a strong international perspective.

If you, or colleagues in your network, might be interested in contributing, we would be very pleased to hear from you. Please feel free to get in touch for an informal conversation.

Expressions of interest are requested by 30 June 2026 to Mark (mark....@cardiffmet.ac.uk) or Anna (anna....@warwick.ac.uk).  Alternatively, please contact either of us for an informal conversation.

With thanks in advance—and do please share more widely.

Best wishes,
Anna & Mark
