OECD AI and Future of Skills (AIFS) project: A better understanding of AI capabilities for better policies
The AIFS project is developing a new set of measures to assess AI and robotic systems in non-technical ways to help policy makers understand what AI and robotics can and cannot do. In its first phase, the project is developing a novel approach to assessing what AI can do that draws on different contexts and types of tests to provide complementary perspectives on AI. The project is exploring evaluating AI performance on occupational and educational tests, as well as using benchmarks and competitions developed specifically for AI. The goal for the development effort is for OECD to establish an ongoing programme of AI assessment that will regularly produce a set of indicators to track major changes in AI capabilities and limitations that could have implications for education and work. You can find more information about the overall project in our brochure. The AIFS team is currently looking to expand its multi-disciplinary expert community, which will contribute to the development of its methodology. In addition, the team is looking for participants for an assessment on whether current AI systems could answer the questions on the OECD’s test for 15 year-olds in reading, mathematics and science (PISA). If you are interested about the project’s activities and would like to join its community, you can contact the team via email (futureo...@oecd.org).
