Subject: CAELUS2 ACP-2022-103 Stakeholder Engagement Reminder
Date: 7 June 2023 at 14:46:25 BST
Dear Stakeholder,Firstly, we would like to thank everyone who already responded to our request for feedback for our ACP application (ACP-2022-103). We really appreciate your effort and useful information. If you sent your response on or before Monday 5th of June, you already received at least an initial response, an acknowledgement or we are in the process of arranging a discussion. If your comment was sent on June 6th or today – we will respond as soon as possible. If you have any questions – we kindly ask you not to respond to this email, but continue the thread that was initiated by us (it should have “engagement re CAELUS2 BVLOS RPAS proposal in Ayrshire & Arran area” in the subject line) or send a fresh email tocaelus2...@traxinternational.co.uk.Secondly, if you organisation is yet to comment – we kindly ask you to do by the date indicated in the initial email (June 11th or 18th unless agreed otherwise). Full proposal details can be found on the CAA Airspace Change Portal through this link. As the engagement period is due to be completed on July 2nd we want to make sure that we have sufficient time to discuss all significant concerns and revise the proposal accordingly where applicable.Last, but not least, you organisation might have previously been involved in a pre-engagement briefing session for the overall project. We have reviewed all the questions raised during the session and emailed to us afterwards. Please see the responses compiled in an Excel file attached or also available as a Dropbox link download from the ACP-2022-103 engagement pack. Please note that it is not a requirement to review the attached Excel file, but you might find some useful information in there whether you attended the meeting or not.We look forward to further productive discussions with you.Kind regards,Alex

Dear BHPA Club Chair or Club contact
Please see below a summary email from The General Aviation Alliance’s Tom Hardie (Programme Manager) of ACPs by CAELUS in Scotland.
I am emailing you as contact for a BHPA club or school.
The scope of the proposals have not been evaluated to see if it will affect BHPA school / club flying activities. I have been instructed to forward this proposal to clubs and schools that may be affected, so they can review and engage directly with the ACP sponsor.
Please refer to the information on the link below for information on the ACPs. You may wish to register your interest by using the “contact” link on the CAA’s Airspace Change Proposal portal, and email the sponsor to register your interest for an online stakeholder briefing session: 18th of April at 12:30 over Microsoft Teams and will last up to 1.5h. caelus2...@traxinternational.co.ukIf your club wishes to comment directly on the airspace change proposal, please copy the BHPA’s Airspace Liaison Officer Andy Mcdonald into the communication. His email address is andy-m...@bhpa.co.uk
The General Aviation Alliance (GAA) of which the BHPA is a part, may well respond to the airspace change proposal on behalf of general aviation (GA) activities, although this has not been confirmed at this stage. If you wish to liaise with the GAA Programme Manager for assistance in dealing with the airspace change proposal sponsor you will need to provide me with the name of your Club Airspace Officer. If the airspace change proposal potentially affects several clubs, it is helpful if the clubs appoint between them a member as a “regional airspace lead” person who acts as an inter-club liaison with the Programme Manager. If you let me know who is nominated I can forward this person’s contact details on to the GAA Programme Manager.
This email has been sent only to the club contact listed on the BHPA clubs and school pages on the BHPA website, and to no other officers or coaches in your club. Please forward it to the relevant club committee member to ensure it is circulated appropriately within your club.
Kind regards
Mark Shaw
Hi All,As per the attached CAELUS have been sending out invitations to a Teams meeting (which is good) without really highlighting what their proposals are (which is not so good). They currently have 5 ACPS at stage one as shown below:CAELUS TRIAL E - GRAMPIAN SHETLAND Route Aberdeen <>Peterhead <> ShetlandSoN "The use cases demonstration will require segregated airspace to be in place for a maximum of 4 weeks to allow for an appropriate weather window with expected flying during 1 day within that timeframe"CAELUS TRIAL D - LOTHIAN REGION Routes Edinburgh <> Haddington and Edinburgh <> MelroseSoN "The use cases will require volumes of segregated airspace to be in place for a maximum of 8 weeks with expected flying during 4 of those weeks"CAELUS TRIAL C - AYRSHIRE & ARRAN Volume Dalrymple<>Kilmarnock<>West Kilbride<>Arran<>DalrympleSoN "The use cases will require the airspace to be in place for a maximum of 8 weeks with expected flying during 4 of those weeks"CAELUS TRIAL B - GRAMPIAN REGION Route Inverness<>Elgin<>Buckie<>AberdeenSoN "The use cases will require the airspace to be in place for a maximum of 8 weeks with expected flying during 4 of those weeks""The project is time constrained due to the window of funding which runs out end of Q2 2024"CAELUS TRIAL A - GLASGOW AIRPORT VICINITY Glasgow Airport and 5nmSoN "The use cases will require a Temporary Segregated Airspace (TSA) within Glasgow CTR to be in place for a maximum of 2 weeks with expected flying during 3 days"No more real details beyond those shown above. Original email from Caelus:
I hope this email finds you well. My name is Alex and I represent the Future Flight Challenge Project CAELUS2. The purpose of this email is to invite General Aviation Alliance to a stakeholder briefing session on our draft proposals for BVLOS RPAS flights across Scotland in segregated airspace. CAELUS2 is led by AGS Airports and Supported by NHS-Scotland. 16 partners are working on the project to facilitate use of RPAS for real-life high value use-cases for the NHS as well as look into ways for safe and successful integration of RPAS alongside conventional aviation.
As an important organisation in the general aviation industry, your insights and feedback on our proposed routes are essential. We are committed to minimising any possible impact on relevant stakeholders, and your participation or that of a suitable representative will help ensure that we address any concerns and issues that may arise from the proposal. The stakeholder briefing session will be held on 18th of April at 12:30 over Microsoft Teams and will last up to 1.5h. During the session, we will cover the general project overview as well as present draft routes that we are working on. The session will also include an overview by NATS of their approach to airspace sharing.
To ensure a productive and efficient session, we intend to share a slide deck for your review one week prior to the session. As we expect around 20 people on the call, we kindly request that any questions/comments are shared with us over email prior to the session. We will also provide a forum by which questions can be submitted during the briefing sessions although we may not be able to provide an answer immediately due to time constraints. We will however record the questions and endeavour to provide answers at the earliest opportunity.
Thank you for your time and consideration. We would be honoured to have GAA represented at this briefing session. Please RSVP to a calendar invite (or forward it to a suitable representative), which will be sent separately.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best regards,
Alex. caelus2...@traxinternational.co.uk
Hi Phil,
Yes it seems the days of Scotland being fairly unaffected by airspace might be numbered. And we need to put our oar in to help avoid it.
Cheers,
Dave
