Dear BHPA Club Chief Coach, Club Secretary* or School CFI

Airspace Consultation - Scottish Airspace Change Proposal (ACP)

I am emailing you as contact for a BHPA club or school.  I attach information recently received from NATS concerning airspace change proposals in Scotland.  The BHPA sites database records the club or school as being located where its operations may possibly be affected by this proposed airspace change.

The scope of the proposal has not been evaluated to see if it will affect BHPA school / club flying activities.  I have been instructed to forward this proposal to clubs and schools that may be affected, so they can review the information and consider a response.

BHPA member Tom Hardie has kindly offered to assist with a response to these ACPs.  His email address is in the cc field, and provided here (t...@primarysolution.co.uk).  Please liaise with Tom to coordinate a response.

 Kind regards

Mark

Subject: Scottish Airspace Modernisation – Consultation Launch
Date: 20 October 2025 at 07:24:17 BST

Good morning,

Scottish Airspace Modernisation – Consultation

Scottish Airspace Modernisation is a coordinated change proposal in Scotland, made up of Glasgow Airport, Edinburgh Airport and NATS, who are known as ‘sponsors.

Together the sponsors are modernising the airspace over Scotland to meet the vision of the Government’s Airspace Modernisation Strategy to deliver quicker, quieter, more resilient and environmentally cleaner journeys.

Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh Airport are responsible for the modernisation of their departure routes, arrival routes and the associated controlled airspace below 7,000ft. NATS is responsible for connecting these routes into the higher-level airspace network at and above 7,000ft.

Further information can be found by visiting our website: www.scottishairspacemodernisation.co.uk

Please note that there are three separate Airspace Change Proposals (ACPs) relating to these changes. The consultation materials are available using the following links:

The consultation opens today, 20October 2025 (00:01), and will runfor 14 weeks until 25January 2026 (23:59).

Please do, review the proposals from each sponsor, if relevant and ensure you have accepted an invitation to a webinar to learn more. Your views can be shared by completing each sponsor’s feedback form.

Yours sincerely,
