Subject: Valentine's Day ???

Some facts:

Numerous early Christian martyrs were named Valentine. The Valentines honored on February 14 are Valentine of Rome (Valentinus presb. m. Romae) and Valentine of Terni (Valentinus ep. Interamnensis m. Romae).
February 14 is celebrated as St Valentine's Day in different Christian denominations; it has, for example, the rank of 'commemoration' in the calendar of the Church of England and other parts of the Anglican Communion.

The Legend of Saint Valentine:

The history of Valentine's Day--and the story of its patron saint--is shrouded in mystery.
St. Valentine's Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. But who was Saint Valentine, and how did he become associated with this ancient rite?
One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine's actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death. It was 14th February.
The benefited soldiers devoted to pay tribute to Saint Valentine, hence Valentine's Day was celebrated in the middle of February to commemorate the anniversary of Valentine's death or burial. ( Barsi )
During the Middle Ages, it was commonly believed in France and England that February 14 was the beginning of bird's mating season, which added to the idea that the middle of Valentine's Day should be a day for romance.

How Valentine's Day was celebrated:

To begin the festival, members of the Luperci, an order of Roman priests, would gather at a sacred cave where the infants Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome, were believed to have been cared for by a she-wolf or lupa. The priests would sacrifice a goat for fertility, and a dog, for purification. They would then strip the goat's hide into strips, dip them into the sacrificial blood and take to the streets, gently slapping both women and crop fields with the goat hide. Far from being fearful, Roman women welcomed the touch of the hides because it was believed to make them more fertile in the coming year. Later in the day, according to legend, all the young women in the city would place their names in a big urn. The city's bachelors would each choose a name and become paired for the year with his chosen woman. These matches often ended in marriage.
The history of Valentine's Day is obscure, and further clouded by various fanciful legends. Stories and legends are widely repeated despite having no historical basis whatsoever. Such as on the evening before Valentine was to be executed, he would have written the first "valentine" card himself, addressed to a young girl variously identified as his beloved, as the jailer's daughter whom he had befriended. It was a note that read "From your Valentine.
The pagan celebration of Lupercalia (fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture) was also celebrated on 14th of February, Juno was the Queen of the Roman Gods and Goddesses. The Romans also knew her as the Goddess of women and marriage. The following day, February 15th, began the Feast of Lupercalia.

Valentine's day spreading among other religious people around the globe:

Blame to the concentrated marketing effort, Valentine's Day is celebrated in some Asian countries as well with Singaporeans, Chinese and South Koreans spending the most money on Valentine's gifts.

In Saudi Arabia, in 2002 and 2011, religious police banned the sale of all Valentine's Day items, telling shop workers to remove any red items, as the day is considered a Christian holiday. In 2008 this ban created a black market of roses and wrapping paper.

In Pakistan, a political party has called for the banning of the holiday. Despite this, the celebration is increasingly popular and the florists expect to sell great amount of flowers, especially red roses.

In India, around 1992 Valentine's Day started catching in India, with special TV and radio programs, and even love letter competitions. The economic liberalization also helped the Valentine card industry. Shiv Sena and the Sangh Parivar organize a political protests, who fear that the globalization will destroy the traditions in their society. Three ministers of BJP had to resign earlier because of the charges of venality against them. And this in a state where the moral police associated with the party has been criticising women for going to bars and threatening couples on Valentine's day.

Result:

The modern St. Valentine's Day celebrations are said to have been derived from both ancient Christian and Roman tradition.
Valentine's day is the day of death anniversary of St. Valentine, i,e. 14 February.
The truth behind the Valentine legends is murky.
Origins of Valentine's Day is a pagan Festival commemorate in mid February.
Valentine's day is just an excuse to run around telling everyone you love them, and so is rather meaningless.
Since Valentine's day has no significance what so ever, you need not wait till 14 February to send your marriage proposal or express your love to your spouse.
Satanic instincts also allowed non-christians too, to celebrate this day.
Valentine's day is all about money. Manufacturers and big companies just wants some creative ideas to boost up their sales.

Conclusion:

Quran 5:51. O believers! Do not make friends with the Jews and the Christians. They (all) are friends to one another (against you). And whoever of you makes friends with them will (also) become one of them.  Surely, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

Hadith : "If one imitates another nation he will be from them." [Reported by Imam Abu-Dawd]          "He is not one of us, he who imitates others. Do not imitate either the Jews or the Christians."  [Reported by Imam Termithy & Abu-Dawd]
