Hi All,
Today is a very important election and I want to encourage all neighbors to get out and vote, and encourage others to go as well.

In Pennsylvania you do NOT have to show a photo ID to vote unless it’s the first time you’re voting, or the first time you’re voting in your division (i.e., if you changed addresses). I.D. needed for first timers is pretty broad: Utility bills, student or employee ID card with photo, passport, driver’s license, voter registration card, current bank statement, paycheck.  Non photo IDs must have your current address on it.

IMPORTANT ELECTION DAY INFORMATION

Voters with questions or issues on Election Day should call the proper authorities:

For voter registration, polling location or other procedural issues

Not to be super political here, but if you don't know who to vote for here is one woman's opinions:

Mantra from pundits Gili Ronen and Derek Ziegler: The time to protest how Democrats operate is in primaries, not general elections. In 2018 United States, for better or worse, so much rides on WHICH PARTY has the power.  Because of that, no matter who the candidates are, unless the Democrat running for a specific position is totally unopposed (see below for an example), or an ax-murderer, in the Fall Election it is CRITICAL to VOTE DEMOCRATIC. Don’t vote Green; that just pulls votes from the Democrat; the presidential elections of 1980 and 2000 might have had different outcomes without third party votes (and I plead guilty for one of those votes in 1980).  Don’t say well, the Democrat is so far ahead in the polls it doesn’t matter. We know from 2016 that the polls can be very inaccurate. VOTE DEMOCRAT!

United States Senator [101] Bob Casey Jr (Democratic)

Mostly repeating what I said in the Spring: I’ve had problems with Bob Casey Jr over the years, especially on his strong right to life/anti-abortion beliefs; I know they come from his deeply held Catholic values, but I wish he’d keep that part of his values out of government (which I think these days he mostly does). However, he has really risen to the occasion as a strong proponent of progressive values and bulwark against the Republican nightmare in Washington. He is being targeted aggressively by organizations and money outside of Pennsylvania, seen as a target because Pennsylvania went red in the 2016 Presidential election. It is critical to hold this seat as a Democratic seat. His Republican opponent is the man who made his name as the virulently anti-immigrant mayor of Hazelton, and one of the earliest trump supporters.  Even if control of the Senate wasn’t at stake, there is no comparison.

Governor and Lieutenant Governor [102] Tom Wolf[3] & John Fetterman (Democratic)

Tom Wolf has done lots of good in the last almost 4 years, and protected Pennsylvania against so much evil from the Republican controlled legislature. If you can focus on nothing else, focus on which party will have the power for the post 2020 census reapportionment of legislative districts. Do you want a Republican Governor to have that power? Next: focus on what would happen in Pennsylvania if Tom Wolf didn’t keep vetoing anti-abortion legislation. We need Tom Wolf in Harrisburg.

[John Fetterman is someone I can happily endorse, but in the Fall election, it’s one package, one vote – Governor and Lieutenant Governor. So if you support Wolf, you get Fetterman.]

Representative in Congress-3rd District [103] Dwight Evans (Democratic). There’s a Republican running, but this election was decided in the Spring. Evans is the incumbent and a solid progressive Democrat; I don’t jump up and down about him, but there is no contest --  we have to  keep our incumbent Democrats and flip others, because we have to flip the House, so desperately. Pennsylvania has the chance to have a big change in who we send to Congress, and what parties they represent, due to the new district lines and retirements. 23 flipped seats are needed to change the U.S. House of Representatives from Republican to Democratic control; at least 2 and possibly more PA seats will flip. Vote Democrat!

Senator in the General Assembly, District 8: no one. It doesn’t matter; the incumbent Democrat is unopposed and will win. Yes, it’s important that the Democrats get as many seats as possible in the General Assembly. Yes, if he had opposition I would endorse him, because he’s a Democrat and not an ax-murderer. But I don’t have to like him, for multiple reasons; if you’re really interested write to me. It is what it is.

Representative in the General Assembly-188th District [105] James R Roebuck (Democratic). Also unopposed. That election was decided in the Spring. Roebuck has done lots of good for our District and for Pennsylvania, especially when it’s about supporting public schools over charter, as much as is possible when the legislature is so Republican.

Please please check out your local elections, but write to me and let’s talk if you are even thinking a little bit about voting for a Republican, OR someone who isn’t a Democrat. This election is just too important.

CITY BOND QUESTION (Bill No. 180552) "Should the City of Philadelphia borrow ONE HUNDRED EIGHTYONE MILLION DOLLARS ($181,000,000.00) to be spent for and toward capital purposes as follows: Transit; Streets and Sanitation; Municipal Buildings; Parks, Recreation and Museums; and Economic and Community Development?"

Do you want infrastructure built and repaired in Philadelphia? Vote YES!  Do you buy a home without a mortgage?
