i noticed the note in the meeting about the $1200 / yr insurance. Weren't we supposed to have liability insurance as part of our fiduciary relationship with Sinod?

Yes, we were. We're supposed to have liability insurance to be in compliance with our bylaws. I've just now found an insurance agency that hasn't run away screaming from what we do. Also, as Synod never fulfilled their end of the fiscal sponsorship agreement, we never actually had a fiduciary relationship with them.
