Sept/Oct AHA Board Highlights

Greetings,

Before I share the highlights, please be aware I am not seeking nomination for a 3rd consecutive term.  Nominations for the next election close Wednesday Nov. 4th.

September Board Highlights - See minutes for details

• One major item:  Esty has agreed to serve as Governance Director until the next election.

October Board Meeting - See minutes for details

• Open Time - AHA welcomed Cindy L. (Doctoral student of Dr. Sylvia Lindtner).  She is a Maker from Singapore who is curious about how to follow research protocal to observe Makers/Hackers at AHA.  Board suggested hanging around and getting to know people and see what happens.  More to follow as the Board hears about it.
• Financial - Lauren (see below) is the new AHA Xero Accountant and has moved our financials into Xero online.  Greg has been given viewing access to generate whatever he needs to support grant submission.  FYI - AHA was overdrawn due to a PayPal limit issue.  (ed. Since resolved).  
  
• Fundraising - No report due to new family arrival!  Congrats Greg and Sonja!!!
• Governance - Another sewage disaster.  Kudo's to Tyler S. and John N. for stellar work keep ahead of the flood.  Nate Y. to help Esty conduct the election.  FYI - Membership - large drop in membership and dues.  Down to 43 Members in good standing from 51 in September.
  
• Volunteers - GoPasses coming (ed. Now available thru Tyler S.)
• Outreach - No report.
• New Business - None

Introducing Lauren Works as AHA's Xero accountant.  She has an MBA from U of M and non-profit accounting experience.  She will continue to serve the future Financial Director.  I will continue keeping Membership records until that function is fully transferred into Xero.
