old laser cutter/engraver--interested?

Would AHA be interested in an old laser? Meistergram. Somewhat flakey controller (Roland, I think). 25W originally. Takes HPGL through a raw CUPS fine (parallel port--I used a USB to parallel converter). Cutting area is about 12x15. Overall size is 33 deep x 41 wide x 20 high. Old enough that you won't find any company willing to admit they ever made it or even bought the company that made it. I think I have some manuals for it, but because we're moving the MechShop, won't be able to find them for at least a few weeks.

This is the one I demoed a few times at early GO-Tech meetings, but no guarantees it still works. Hasn't been run in 2 years. Probably a good base to put in a new (LinuxCNC) controller, and eventually a new tube.

If AHA wants it, someone needs to pick up today or tomorrow.

We already have the 2 down here. But OCD is looking for a laser cutter of any kind. Maybe we could pick it up and hold it for them? Might be a very nice thing for us to do.

That does sound awesome. If it functions, and they'd be able to use it. If not, I don't see why we couldn't make something of it.

Just got a hold of OCD and yes, they wants it. If we can get it to AHA, they'll joyously pick it up.
