Since my arrival in USA from India on April 19, 2022, I have been worried by the high level of sectarianism among the NRIs. I wrote a note, "Build Trust with the Masses". I have also been thinking of running a signature campaign among the NRIs "Observe August 15 as a Day of Introspection and Freedom". My note on this is attached. On June 12, 2022, 2-5 PM we are organizing Jashn-e-Nonviolence (Jashn-e-Ahinsa) at Montgomery County Executive Building Hall, Maryland, USA. 

In the middle of all this comes the news of a storm building up in the garb of Gyanvapi Masjid controversy. Just as Ram Temple movement was not directed against the Babri Mosque but against the Muslim masses and defacto ruining the inner vigor of Hindu masses. So is the Gyanvapi controversy. The mosque stands side by side with Kashi Vishwanath Temple since 1777. Muslims and Hindus have offered their prayers without ill will. In recent years the temple has expanded a great deal but the hearts have not. Recall Varanasi is a city of weavers of Banarasi sari. Their places of worship are modest and must be respected. The controversy is driven by hatred and imperialistic tendency of dabaa ke rakkho, kuchal ke rakkho. It will only cripple the soul, hence is insane. 

While we go to the masses to foil sectarian offensives of the sectarian organizations and vested interests, we must resist unjust or partisan policies/ drive of the state. One such drive is Prime Minister's call given last year to observe August 14 as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. It is to selectively project wounds of a community and project the other as villain and put a curtain on the entire freedom movement. We have already seen such a fire when the Kashmir Files movie was promoted by the PM. 

I wish to launch the signature campaign from this perspective. It will give us an opportunity to reach out to a larger number of people. Whereever possible signatures on the sheet of paper (note) be collected, scanned and sent to me. A group of 5-7 people will seek an appointment with the Ambassador in July and present our memorandum to him.
