SURABHI is a 130 year old traditional drama family, from a village called SURABHI. Surabhi is a movement and it goes on record, as the only one of its kind in the World, run entirely by the descendants of the erstwhile performing theatre family.
The irony is, today, not many know that this theatre group exists within close vicinity. We are doing our own bit of patronising and creating awareness for the World famous theatre group, which is slowly slipping into oblivion. Our sincere effort and intent is to create awareness among the NexGen and to promote another enjoyable mode of entertainment, which can replace the lifeless gadgets and Cinema.With this noble cause as our inspiration and as a promotional fest, we are organizing , 1 show for Rotarians and thier families on 6th , 1 show for Rotaracts and Public on 7th and 4 shows for Interators consisting of 800 school children, exclusively on 8th and 10th th of Dec 2014.
Sri R.Nageswara Rao, affectionately known as "Surabhi Babji", heads the traditional theatre family and he was awarded the prestigious PADMASRI award by the Government of India in 2013. We as a mark of gratitude to him, for having kept the theatre alive, despite the onslaught of Cinema and various hangout joints in the City, shall honour him with VOCATIONAL EXCELLENCE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD on 6th Dec 2014, during the grand Curtain raiser of the Surabhi Drama Fest, in the presence of the connoisseurs of Hyderabad.It is our sincere attempt to keep this ancient art alive & preserve the art for future generations.
