This theme explores the hidden aspect of a whole. Investigating personal, local or global issues that are hidden beneath the surface, we may find similar concerns and impulses that are universal.

Submit: Your art in any medium, painting, sculpture, ceramic, jewelry, fabric, video, installation...
Images must be in jpg format (max. 10mb 4000 pixels longest side) & include title_dimensions.

Submit: A writing piece (50 words or less) optional

Submit: A short one sentence description of each piece.

Prizes
First Prize $50 and a certificate signed by the Judge.

Second Prize $25 gift certificate usable in the gallery and a certificate signed by the Judge.

Special Mention $10 gift certificate usable in the gallery and a certificate signed by the Judge.

Gallery Pick $25 gift certificate for display fee in future show.

Rules for Submission

Submission Fee: None, display fee on acceptance.

Notification of Acceptance via email: May 7th, 2014

Size of Artwork: Artwork size may not exceed 36” x 36" x 18" for each piece.
Contact us for any oversized artwork submissions.

Display Fee*: Due by May 11th, 2014
Upon acceptance you will be expected to pay a display fee* at the rate of $25 per painting or $60 for 3 paintings. Contact gallery for pricing on over-sized pieces.
You will receive invites, webpage, inclusion in press releases & a page in our art book (available for purchase).
You will pay 30% on your sales as commission to the gallery.

Drop Off/Receipt of Work: May 30th – June 4th
You are responsible for dropping off your artwork, ready for hanging (wired). If you are outside of Chicago, you are responsible for shipping, insuring the package, requesting a delivery signature and for a reusable package plus a return shipping label. Please package fragile items properly in oversize boxes to prevent damage by shipping carriers. We will refuse delivery of items damaged by the carrier. Shipments via FedEx should be standard overnight, or ground, do not send priority overnight or 1st overnight. Do not send as home delivery, check business, or leave it blank.

Pick up/Return Shipping Date: July 1st – July 5th
Artwork which is not picked up within 30 days becomes the property of the gallery.

Insurance: 100% Insurance of your work on our premises at the fair value you declare. You are responsible for insuring artwork in transit. Artwork will not be insured after July 5th.

*Display fee is non-refundable.

Arts Visalia Visual Art Center is accepting submissions for the 2014 North American Print and Drawing Juried Exhibition. Juror: Roxanne Sexauer, Professor of Art at California State University, Long Beach. Awards: A minimum of $1000.00 in cash awards including $500 best of show award. Open to artists 18 years or older living in the United States or Canada. Works must have been produced within the last three years. Open to all traditional and non-traditional graphic media, including all forms of printmaking, drawing, and book arts.

Calls are open to all local, domestic, national and international professional and amateur artists. All art mediums will be. Sizes up to 12 feet are acceptable. Work must be able to be hung on a wall to be considered for the live exhibition. Freestanding 3D artworks will be displayed online only. We are now accepting video and poetry entries for online shows. Accepted entries for this online exhibition will be judged again in the coming months for a collective live exhibition at our Los Angeles gallery. Sol Circus is to be a high energy, art spectacle of rockstar proportions. We are seeking artists of all forms that want to participate. 1. Circus performers: It's called Sol Circus, Chicago is filled with circus performers, of course we want circus performers. 2. Music: we want music or bands that know how to rock a house. 3. Performance art: Let us know if you have any performance ideas that you think would fit our theme(ish). 3a. To give you an idea of what we're working with, one of of weird showcases is live painters in a circle with canvas facing out. Outside of the circle will be fans blowing towards the artists, and piles of glitter, scrap paper, confetti, rubbish, whatever. The audience will be pushed to get all this craziness into the fans so that it becomes a part of the paintings and making the whole process crazy collaborative. Let us know if you want to be one of the live painters for this. Must have your own easel. 4. Projections: We'll have the projector rigged up playing short works, vintage clips of circus freaks, and who knows what. We can play your stuff too. 5. Surprise us with something.
