During the last two weeks of September, SlowExposures Photography Show presents a juried exhibition of 80 images that celebrate the contemporary rural South. 2014 Jurors: Alexa Dilworth and Aline Smithson. First prize: $500 and a solo show for 2015; other awards including People's Choice and purchase awards. Sales encouraged. Special events during Opening Weekend for juried-in photographers. Creek Gallery is an event to celebrate artists of all backgrounds. The exhibition is at a large church with plenty of space to show work & perform. This July, we are looking to showcase area artists in our space. If you are looking for an unconventional way to get your work seen by several thousand people each week, this event is for you.
Artists of different faiths (or no faith) are encouraged to submit.
We're seeking art of all kinds (such as anything from manga, to sculpture to graffiti) and a variety of performers for our opening night event (think hip-hop, performance art, classical, rap).
Our goal is to promote the arts. There is no fee to submit and there is no commission taken from work sold. We do require that if your work is selected, you commit to the show by meeting all deadlines for delivery and pickup. We also need contributing artists to help with either hanging or take-down of the work.
This is a juried show. Please submit your work as soon as possible, as exhibition space and performance time slots are limited.

Visual Artists:

Juror: CJ Hungerman, originally from Pittsburgh, has a Masters Degree in Fine Arts: Painting/Design from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL. He has completed many public art projects in Chicago such as one of the large-scale Ryder Cup golf balls displayed on Michigan Avenue in 2012. One of CJ’s pieces won the Alice & Arthur Baer Award in October 2013. Currently his work can be seen at the new Fulton Market Kitchen hanging with artists Erik Debat, Hebru Brantley, Franklin Riley, Erni Vales, Rory Coyne, and Dominic Sansone.

Please package fragile items properly in oversize boxes to prevent damage by shipping carriers. We will refuse delivery of items damaged by the carrier. Shipments via FedEx should be standard overnight, or ground, do not send priority overnight or 1st overnight. Do not send as home delivery, check business, or leave it blank.

With an essay by Micaela Giovannotti, Curator at More Art, the catalog and exhibition feature new works by recipients of the Printshop’s Publishing Residencies: Heide Fasnacht, Kate Shepherd, Hank Willis Thomas, and Janaina Tschäpe.
During the past year, the artists collaborated with the Printshop’s studio team, Master Printer Erik Hougen, Printer Keigo Takahashi, and Assistant Printer Laura Charlton to create significant new bodies of work.

The Wilderness Workshop’s Artist in Wilderness residency program invites applications for four one-week residences in 2014-15. Professional artists working in any medium of painting or drawing are welcome to apply. Two residencies will be held in the fall of 2014, and two will be held in early summer of 2015.
The Wilderness Workshop will provide each selected artist with housing, a guide as required, a $1500 stipend, and reimbursement for travel to/from Aspen up to $1000 ($400 for Colorado residents). Good health and endurance are essential. The artist will be responsible for his/her own food, equipment and materials, and will be expected to comply with all relevant USFS/BLM regulations.

The University of Maine Intermedia MFA program, New Media Department and the Innovative Media Research and Commercialization Center (IMRC) are pleased to announce an open call for its Researcher in Residence program for the spring of 2015.
Residents will be selected from an open call based on the quality of the work or research being proposed, the availability of the necessary tools and skills to support the work, and the relation of the proposed statement of interest to the mission and activities of the IMRC, the Foster Student Innovation Center and/or the University of Maine. Fall 2014 Studio Internship
Deadline: July 1, 2014 Fee (USD): $10.00Pyramid Atlantic offers internship opportunities four times a year to 2-4 enthusiastic, engaged, and serious-minded college or post-college artists. Our interns assist resident artists, renters, artistic staff, and with printmaking, papermaking and book arts projects. In addition to hands-on experience with artistic projects, interns gain an understanding of the day-to-day operation of a non-profit art center and gallery.
Typical intern tasks include: -Maintaining the studios for visiting artists, renters, and outreach events -Helping in the gallery with exhibition preparation, installation, and de-installation. -Assisting in the production of prints or handmade paper -Setting up and breaking down evening programs -Assisting with events preparation
Interns work for Pyramid Atlantic 10am-4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week. Candidates should have a strong interest in art, be highly motivated, and comfortable working within a studio environment. Interns, in exchange, are given an opportunity to work on their own art in a creative and unique environment alongside experienced art professionals. Additionally, interns will also participate in an edition exchange and free workshops. During their internship, interns are expected to work on their own art at least one day a week. The internship will culminate in a group exhibition.
